Volunteers Are Essential For Successful Productions
How To Get Involved
The West Windsor Plainsboro Dance Company offers parents and members of the community the opportunity to be involved in numerous aspects of the dance company's programs. We are always in need of volunteers who want to become a part of the WWPDC family and assist us in numerous ways throughout the year. Below you will see a list of the types of volunteer work that we use. We love our volunteers and we could not do this without them
Public Relations
The responsibility of a public relations volunteer would be to assist in preparing a press release and getting it published. If you can help with this, please contact the directors.
Fund Raising
If you have experience raising funds for not-for-profit organizations and would like to help us raise money in support of our production company, please contact the directors.
Advertising Sales
If you think you could help sell advertising to other businesses in our community for our program, please contact the directors.
Ticket Sales, Ticket Collection, And Program Distribution
If you want to help with pre-production sales of tickets, please contact the directors. If you would like to help sell tickets at the door, collect tickets at the door, or just help hand out programs, please look for a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the studio.
Costume Fitting
If you would like to help with costume fitting (ladies only) please contact the directors.
Costume Alteration
Whether you can do complex alterations or can only sew a hem, and would like to help, please contact the directors.
Set Loading and Unloading
All of our sets must be loaded into a truck and delivered to the theatre before the rehearsal and returned to storage immediately after the last show. This normally takes about 2-3 hours. If you can help with this in any way, please look for a signup sheet at the studio. Some of the materials are heavy, so normally these volunteers are men.
Backstage Setup
Setting up the stage is usually done after the set has arrived. If you would like to help setup before the rehearsal, please look for a signup sheet on the bulletin board at the studio.
Backstage Crew
The backstage crew handles set changes, props and curtains during the show. If you would like a different view of our show, please volunteer to help by signing up on a signup sheet on the bulletin board at the studio.
Sound and Lighting
The sound and lighting crew manages the sound, lighting, and narration of our shows. If you would like to help out with this please contact the directors.
Runners
Runners do not have to be fast, but they are responsible for making sure that all of the performers in a number get from the dressing rooms to the stage at the right time and that they all return to the dressing room afterward. If you would like to help out with this please contact the directors..
Quick Change Assistants
This is a ladies only job. Performers who have back-to-back, or nearly back-to-back numbers need assistance to change quickly. If you would like to help out with this please contact the directors.
Helping Room Moms
Our children get dressed in class rooms. The responsibility of the Helping Room Moms is to help with costume changes if necessary, make sure that the kids are behaving properly in the classroom, and making sure that they do not leave before the staff has released them to do so. As a result of this responsibility they will not see a performance. Usually a helping room mom only signs up for one day.
Costume Cleaning
We have hundreds of costumes to be laundered after each production. Cleaners will be given easy to follow instructions and the necessary materials for cleaning. They also organizing each costume for return to the studio. If you can help with this critical role, please sign up on a signup sheet found on the bulletin board at the studio.
